Project Overview:
Girls Leading: From Rural Economies to Global Solutions—available as both a fully online digital experience and as a PDF—is a collection of diverse views and perspective from 20 authors around the world and presented by The Chicago Council on Global Affairs (CCGA). The authors share their research and stories of personal struggle and triumph to highlight the needs of rural girls and solutions to the challenges they face. The report also includes recommendations arranged by age group to stress the critical moments at every point in a girl’s life, where small and large actions can make a huge difference.
Scope:
We developed this website using Ion Interactive, which is a content marketing platform used by the client. The website focused on 20 authors who shared their unique perspectives on rural girls and their potential to break the cycle of poverty and hunger and contribute to growth and development for their families, communities, nations, and the world.
Along with these essays, the website also had a Progress Report, which examined a study called "Girls Grow: A Vital Force in Rural Economies," multiple pages of policy recommendations separated out by age group, and a page called "In Their Words," detailing the journeys of three Senegalese girls to stay in school.
My role:
After receiving details of the project, I was tasked with designing the look for the website, taking into account CCGA brand guidelines and color palette.
I created mockups and a website prototype, using bold graphics and icons. Each essay (20 pages) had a unique infographic (designed by me), a callout and a pull quote, as well as photos carefully chosen to illustrate each unique story.
Process:
I designed a pull quote and infographic to accompany each unique author perspective.

Pages:
Home page, In Their Words, Solutions Index, and Policy Recommendations separated out by age group.

Pages:
Author essays and bios.
Final Step: Girls Leading interactive PDF.
